Description
Meta Cresol Purple

Dark reddish purple powder. Very slightly soluble in water. Soluble in alcohol, insoluble in ether and benzene.
Dissolves in solution of alkalies (NaOH, Na2CO3, etc) to form deep reddish purple solution.
Uses
Used in pH determination, acid-base titrations. To prepare 0.1% solution of the indicator, dissolve 0.5gm in 13.1 ml of 0.1 N NaOH or Na2CO3 for the monosodium salt (or 26.2 ml for the disodium salt) and 50 ml of water and dilute to 500 ml with distilled water.
This indicator has two distinct colour changes at two specific ranges as indicated below.

| 7.6 - 9.2 | Yellow to Purple |
